What Is the Home Renovation Savings Heat Pump Rebate?
The Home Renovation Savings Program offers rebates to eligible Ontario homeowners who install qualifying heat pump systems.
For homeowners considering a Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump, the available rebate depends on the home's existing primary heating source:
- Electricity, oil, propane, or wood: Up to $1,250 per ton, with rebates of up to $7,500
- Enbridge Gas customers primarily heating with natural gas: $500 per ton, with rebates of up to $2,000
The $1,250-per-ton rebate does not apply to every homeowner. Your available rebate will depend on your home’s existing heating source and whether you meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
Your rebate journey, made easier:
Check your eligibility → Choose your heat pump → Complete the installation → Get help with the rebate process
With Climate Comfort Solutions, you get support throughout the process instead of being left to figure everything out yourself.
Could You Qualify for the Heat Pump Rebate?
Not sure whether your home meets the requirements? Start with this simple checklist.
You may qualify if:
- You own the home where the heat pump will be installed. If the property has tenants, the owner must apply.
- Your home meets the heating requirements. You must either be an active Enbridge Gas residential customer who primarily heats the home with a natural gas furnace or boiler, or be connected to the Ontario electricity grid and heat your home with electricity, oil, propane, or wood.
- Your home is an eligible property type, including a single detached home, semi-detached home, row house, townhome, or mobile home on a permanent foundation.
- Your home is not a new build that has been occupied for six months or less.
- The heat pump is a new installation. Replacement heat pumps are not eligible.
Meeting these points does not automatically guarantee rebate approval. Your project and eligibility still need to meet the applicable program requirements.
If you're unsure where your home fits, Climate Comfort Solutions can help.

How Much Could You Save on Your Heat Pump?
Your available rebate depends on your home's existing primary heating source.
Existing Primary Heating Source | Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump Rebate |
Electricity, oil, propane, or wood | $1,250/ton, up to $7,500 |
Enbridge Gas / natural gas | $500/ton, up to $2,000 |
These amounts are based on the Home Renovation Savings Program's current rebate structure. Your actual rebate will depend on your eligibility and the applicable program requirements.
- Why start with an eligibility check?
Because the rebate isn’t one-size-fits-all, your existing heating system matters. Your home type matters. And the heat pump installation must meet the program’s requirements.
A quick eligibility enquiry can help you understand whether pursuing the rebate makes sense for your home before moving ahead.
